Bob Marley:One Love - Film Review 2024
On Saturday 2nd March I went to see the ‘Bob Marley Movie and I through it was a good film to see the cinema and if you where thinking about going to see it with friends or family, this film it good for both male and female.
The Film is set when Bob Marley at the peck of his career in the late 1970s. One thing you get from watching this movie is that he was about peace and unifying people together with his music. This movie is not a fun popcorn movie and where it makes fun of this great man; through the fact he was big into marijuana. In the film we do see the acting portraying him smoking when he is in rehearsals and relaxing. But that is not what this film about it is about how he used his talent to build a better world for him and his family.
The film could not have come a better time. There is a lot of destruction in this world. With President Putin and his invasion of Ukraine; the Israel-Gaza conflict in the middle east and politicians trying to do their best for normal people and other politicians offering alternative solution. The big one being this year is the American Presidential election. The world is in a mess.
However, I ready believe that if everyone watched this film, they will see that Bob Marley brought people together off all backgrounds. he was born in Jamica and after a long war the island won their independents from Great Britain but even during Bob’s live the was still civil unrest on the island over people’s political views. The film is set around the Smile concert. Just before the concert took place he survived an assassination attempt on his life. At that time, he knew his life was in danger and he took time out and travelled to London, just before he send his wife and children to American to live with his mother. He was very much a family man and he understood that his family where endanger with they were around him at this time.
During his time in London his performed and made ‘Exodus’ which brought in millions and climbed up the chart. It was a very successful project. Bob Marley came from humble beginnings and the one thing that he cared about that the money regenerated from the success went to paid the band their wages and that there was some for his children. The money that was raised from the launch of ‘Exodus’ when to finance the African tour. That tour was more important to Bob Marley then doing that than the tour in Europe and America. When watching the film, we see that he was using his talents to raise awareness what was happening back in his home country and other country that were struggling with conflict.
When watching the film, we get to see the human side of Bob Marley and we learn that we died from cancer of the skin. In the film we discover that he could of get it treated but because he was religious roots as a Rastafarian, he chooses not to get caner treatment.
The is very well produce with a good cast. It stars top actors such as Kingsley Ben Adir, who also stared in the Barbe movie and in the Disney series ‘Secret Invasion; as well as other actors like Lashana Lynch and James Norton from the BBC series ‘ Happy Valley’ and ‘War and Peace and with Brad Pitt as executive producer.
This is a film that shows the goodness of people and it treacherous us that any problem can be overcome with we all work together.
